The Account Number is the series of codes reflecting Fund-Area-Org. Fund identifies the source of funding, Area identifies a unit or department within a college or school, and Org (Organization) identifies a specific project or program within an Area with budget responsibility and accountability. (For sponsored accounts, the Org identifies the specific grant, contract, or cooperative agreement.)
There is also a Function code associated with each Fund/Area/Org combination. Function is a four-digit code assigned to each org that describes in broad terms the business purpose of the account.
