An Area Group is a four-digit code used to roll up or accumulate areas for reporting purposes. Area group is the unit to which central budget allocations are made. For the majority of the collegiate and administrative units on the twin cities' campus, area group is equivalent to area class. Area group is equivalent to the chancellor level on the coordinate campuses.
