Downloading Shared Queries:
- When the report is on your screen, go up to “file” and click on “save as.” Save it to a directory you have access to such as C:\XXXX\XXXX\name of report.txt. Make sure the file type is text (.txt).
- Open the text file in Excel. The text import wizard of excel will launch. Excel now has to convert the text file to an Excel spreadsheet.
- Just click the button at the bottom that says, “FINISH”. If the columns don’t break where you would like them to you can step through the 3 steps of the text import wizard to format the report.
- The report is basically finished but you may need to clean it up before you print it out. Some headings may need to be retyped. Column widths may need adjusting for all the data to show. You may also need to delete empty columns that occurred during the conversion from text to Excel. Changing the cell format to line wrap may aid in ensuring that all the data fits on one page or you can choose the option File\Page Setup\Fit to X page(s) wide by X tall to make the report fit.
- Use “Print Preview” to verify paper size and format (portrait or landscape) needed for all data to print completely.
- Print the report.
* Note: Formulas do not come through on the import. If you want columns to sum or add you must do your own formulas.
Downloading From the Web:
- When prompted with the 'save as' screen, try to save the file being downloaded inside the viewing application.
- To avoid the 'save as' screen, set up MS Excel as a Netscape Helper App.
- When importing text via a Wizard, check Delimited on the first Wizard screen and both Comma and Tab on the second screen.
